Quick - Debian/Ubuntu
1) Simply put the following line in your Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) repositories list (see screenshots below)
- deb http://www.uq.edu.au/geomechanics /software/binary/
2) Update database (reload package information), search for 'mechsys', select it for installation, and click Apply
3) Load MechSys in Blender
To download the source code, add this to SPM:
- deb-src http://www.uq.edu.au/geomechanics /software/source/

A) Set up the repository list
A.1) Open Synaptic Package Manager
Open Synaptic Package Manager (PM)
A.2) Add repositories
After the addition, the result will be similar to the following:
Add cneurocvs (for igraph, a dependency for MechSys):
Add savannah (mechsys' repository):
Synaptic PM will notify that the repositories were changed
Update database (reload package information)
B) Install MechSys
B.1) In Synaptic PM
Search for 'mechsys'
Mark for installation
Install (click 'Apply')
C) Open MechSys in Blender
C.1) Open Blender
Open Blender
C.2) Load MechSys
Right click on the bottom (mid) border and select 'join areas'
Delete the 'box', 'lamp', and and 'camera'
Right click on the bottom border and select 'slplit area'
On the left area, select 'scripts'
Select 'MechSys' from the 'Themes' submenu
Scroll to see additional MechSys' menus
